Polymer Clay Hairstyles

There are a lot of things you can do with the basic polymer clay to make hair. Below are a few examples. A log of raw marbled clay is cut into slices and attached to the head. It does not have to be perfectly attached as loose fringes add a more natural element. It is better to have a bit of transparent clay in the mix as it adds dimensionality. For the basic head you then drag a needle or other slightly blunt object through the hair to create texture and form. A sharp knife tends to raise burrs. You then add buns, plaits (but don't try to plait them, make a braided loaf and add to the head) or ponytails. Longer plaits can be pulled forward etc. Just leave room for clothes to get under the hair or do the hair once dressed.
